Can anyone tell me what this residential door peep hole is for? It is located on the front cabinets right in the middle.
Thanks

That looks like the IR eye for the remote control system. There should be one in the bedroom below the television.
Ah, ok thanks Chuck. As far as the TV, mine has a aftermarket flat screen up front. However, I do still have the original VCR up front so I am assuming this eye is more than likely for it?
I will have to double check the bedroom but I don't recall seeing one in there although it does still have the original TV.
Just to the left of the light switches our ir detector
I probably just didn't notice it. I'll check again.
Thanks Peter.
I have one on the front cabinet door I have my cable box inside the side cabinet for the satellite dish and there a tin wire I place in front of the cable box I point the remote at the eye and the signal goes to the cable box
Picture of wire
Ahh, that explains it.
Mine is not bothering me so I guess I will just leave it as is. My TV has it's own remote and although the VCR stills works, I won't be using it. If I had something creative to fill the hole with, I would take it out but nothing comes to mind.
Just because I'm paranoid, does not mean that it isn't the CIA's spy eye.
OK, I have one in the bedroom as depicted. But I have no TVs, and the little light inside will flicker at times, and really flickers when the AH burner is running. This has been going on for years. And I have no idea what it is except it has photoelectric cells inside along with a light that flickers.

See post #8 above🤣🤣
A good pair of wire cutters will take care of that flicker

I bought a new replacement one from Amazon and connected it to the DVD player in the overhead cabinet, works perfectly.
