I had this issue a couple years ago but it went away, now after sitting for a couple months it's doing it again.
Starts up, runs for 15-20 seconds, then the starter engages and genny shuts down with the overcrank light.
Search on here revealed that it might be a wire going to the breaker in the control box is broke but so far all the wires look fine with solid connections.
Any suggestions on where I should look next? Is the white breaker in the rear of the control box something to replace? Or maybe the 2 main breakers with the on/off switch in the front of the control box?
Update:
Was able to check voltage at the 2 breakers in the control box before the Genny shuts down with the error...
I'm getting 120v on one breaker and 115v on the other
Also, what is the white breaker thing in the back?
Latching relay for start run. I think
Looks like I have a bad genny controller...anybody think this one won't work?
DynaGen ES52 Auto-Start Generator Controller | Aurora Generators (https://www.auroragenerators.com/product-page/dynagen-es52-auto-start-generator-controller)
Powertech has this one PowerTech Generators - Auto Start Controller - ES52FS (https://www.powertechgenerators.com/products/es52fs)
and it has the factory plug that will work with my existing pigtail for the 120V sensor, the one above has spade connectors in its place.
The Powertech is significantly more expensive, but I don't want to have to do this twice...
I used that one, just set the dip switches up the same way as the old one.
So you used the one from DynaGen?
Yep, about 12 years ago.
