Title: Air leaks: Slide room valve
Post by: tsonby on March 05, 2024, 10:04:21 am
found one of me slide room valves was leaking when it was open coming out of the actual knob area.  I was about to call FOT for part but was wondering if anyone had a good / another source for these?  Amazon has some that look close but not sure I wanted to venture away from original until I heard from any other experiences.  Attaching the valve pic for ref

Also question around the Aux compressor drain/shutoff mechanism:  There is a small bladder apparently on the back side of the spring area that has 5 or 6 screws holding it on.  I tested this area and found leaks around the seal.  Tightened all the screws and no leaks.  2 days later after the Aux compressor has run a couple of times, I find there is air seeping out again around the bladder seam here.  Tighten again, no leaks.  Any one run into this issue and have a better fix?

Thanks

Post a pic of the bladder you're talking about.

As for the valve, it's just a ball valve.  I replaced both with ball valves from Lowes.  You can just see them on the right side (inlet side of the solenoid block) in this pic.

Small bladder circled in red.

BTW...save me some time...what size did you get at Lowes?  is it 1/4 to 3/8 transition?

Many have replaced those valves, which are notorious for leaking, with quarter-turn ball valves.  We did back in 2010.  We bought them at either Lowes or Home Depot in the air tool section of the store.

That is a pressure switch. You could take it to grangers to source a replacement.  You will have to adjust the  stop and restart settings but generally they come with a set of instructions in the box. Check for a part number on it and search that if you prefer. Probably cost less too

Tom,

On that valve, you can take the snap ring off the back and remove the valve stem. Once done you will see 4 "O" rings on the stem that can be replaced which should fix the leak.

I believe my valves were 1/4" in and out.  Pull yours out to identify male/female before going to buy the replacements.

Thanks...

First Lowes and THD didnt have valves/out of stock

Lowes does carry a 1/4 to 1/4 with adapters to 3/8 but to be sure I am going to pull that one this evening and take it with me.

Thanks

Before you remove the old pressure switch check and see what your cut in and out pressures are.  I think my cut in is 85 and out is 105.  But I have been wrong before
