I am wanting to add some parts to my road spares, some of the sensors that might leave us stranded one day. I've read a lot of posts on the topics of the following sensors causing issues over the years. But all the posts mention the M11 and possible part numbers for that engine. I have checked Cummins QS for my engine with no luck at getting the info I need.
Is this only an occasional M11 issue, surely not, if not, are the parts cross compatible between the 2 engines. Are these the only occasionally failing sensors?
Does anyone have the part numbers for these sensors as they relate to the 8.3 ISC? And I'm fully ok with aftermarket.
Coolant Level Sensor
Cam Position sensor
Oil Pressure sensor.
I am also needing this information...thanks for asking...
May help if you look on Ebay for a used parts book.
Surely with all the owners here that have this setup. Somebody has bought these items and can attest to the numbers....if no one ever does, I'll resort to calling a local Cummins shop and see if they can help.
A fellow owner got with me today to at least state that the Cam position and engine speed are the same type sensor, but didn't have the actual part number.
Mike the engine position sensor / cam sensor PN is 5491993 x2. If you go to CQS service electronic repair and service section you will find sensor layouts under system familiarization. Way too many sensors to to stock in spare parts IMHO. Have fun looking it up 😎
Thanks Bruce, Oh yeah cant keep them all, but interested in the ones that I see fellow members, as well as other forum members, occasionally having issues with....those seem to be the Coolant level and cam sensor. IF I looked based just on verbal description there were several that came up, so not sure which one would actually fit our setups. Only wanted to order the ones that for sure were the right ones.
After quite a bit of searching last night, think I confirmed that the Coolant level sensor is the following 4 wire sensor.
