Title: 1997 U320 - Fisher & Paykel Residential Fridge
Post by: Siren on April 10, 2024, 06:19:38 pm
As exhaustive as this conversation gets, we're here to discuss residential fridges with you. This thread will be focused on the Fisher & Paykel French Door Refrigerator that replaces a Dometic RM7832.
_________________________________________________________________________________

We have the Dometic RM7832.  After hours of sifting through the "search" results on the ForeForums and extensive research online, we have narrowed it down to 3 fridge options that will best fit OUR needs and wants:

1. The typical Samsung RF18A5101SR (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Samsung-17-5-cu-ft-3-Door-French-Door-Smart-Refrigerator-in-Stainless-Steel-Counter-Depth-RF18A5101SR/315868024)
2. LG Model # LRMXC1803S (https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-33-in-18-cu-ft-4-Door-French-Door-Counter-Depth-Refrigerator-with-Ice-and-Water-in-Stainless-Steel-LRMXC1803S/327581788) - @Peter is currently having a similar LG installed (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=47649.0)
3. Fisher & Paykel Model # RF170ADUSX4 N (https://www.fisherpaykel.com/us/cooling/refrigeration/contemporary-refrigeration/freestanding-french-door-refrigerator-freezer-32in-17-cu-ft-ice-and-water-rf170adusx4-n-26281.html#)

According to my ForeForum search results, there have been at least 2 members that have a Fisher & Paykel fridge.  I have sent private messages reaching out to them.

Our reasoning behind liking the Fisher & Paykel Model # RF170ADUSX4 N:
 - the width dimensions (32 1/8" wide) should make for a very easy installation
 - it has an ice maker (in the freezer) and a water dispenser on the door
 - we currently have other Fisher & Paykel appliances in our RV that we love and have been incredibly reliable
 - Fisher & Paykel seems to be the highest rated stand alone refrigerator brand according to Consumer Reports

What we don't like is that is has exterior handles.  And the price is higher than the other options.  ;)

Do any of you have a Fisher & Paykel fridge in your Foretravel?  Please chime in on your impressions and experience with this brand of fridge.  Pictures of your Fisher & Paykel fridge would be a bonus.  Thank you!!

Fantastic!  Do you have any photos you can dig up of it in your Windsor?  I'm thrilled that you loved it.  It gets great reviews, and even though I don't care for the price tag, buying something that is built well with great customer service is worth the extra money to us.

Ours is a F&P model E522B.  17.3 cu ft.  Works great.  The freezer door opens to side like the top with pull out drawers inside.  A pull out door/drawer would definitely be better.  Snaps with straps hold the doors closed for travel.  A bumper was installed by the cooktop where the handles hit.

Wow, F&K is a little pricey for sure!  We had a Samsung, installed it ourselves with the great help of Chris Lang on the Forum and his expertise!  We had it for approximately 6 years and still going strong with new owner!  No water and ice in the door and DW was not happy, but it worked out as the freezer made lots of ice and it was no issues with her.  You could buy 2 Samsungs for the price of the F&K.  Just a thought!  I also sold appliances off and on for roughly 8 years and Samsung, GE and LG were the best.  Believe me when I say that as we saw what was coming back into the store with very unhappy consumers!
