Title: Hydraulic Leveling Jacks Fluid
Post by: Elliott on April 23, 2024, 08:28:22 pm
Finally got all the jacks put back together and installed after sending the actuators off to HWH for a rebuild. Can I just use regular ol' ATF in the hydraulic fluid reservoir?  How do I know when to quit adding fluid?

Picture of the new helper we recently adopted included below.

Yes, ATF is fine as a substitute for HWH fluid.  HWH fluid is clear so any leak will not stain-- that is the difference.

Never heard of using motor oil as the hydraulic fluid in the HWH jack system-- check with HWH.

On my '81 as long as the jacks were retracted I filled to just below the threads on the reservoir.

Mobil one is the fill for the modern zero turn mowers that operate at high duty cycle . Thus my choice.
Oe fill is ford type F  Or Dextron 2.

You should use dextron or equivalent atf fluid.
