Title: Luggage rack removal
Post by: oldguy on May 01, 2024, 11:13:12 am
Removed the luggage rack. For the screw holes I countered sunk the holes for more surface for
the epoxy to hold.

Looks nice!  I generally don't see luggage tied to the luggage racks.

I had a big project a few years ago.  I removed the CB antenna, the TV antenna, the satellite antenna...  I also removed the sides of the luggage rack, leaving the back portion for a safety handle when using the ladder.  I filled 111 holes (and I did count them), including those items, wire clamps, wire holes, ghosts of vent covers, etc.

Note:  Our Lance travel trailer has a wonderful ladder on the back.  Thicker, stronger and more stable than that on the FT.  I've not yet looked to see the brand.  If someone is replacing a ladder, it might be worth checking into.

I used our luggage rack only to carry an unmounted spare tire while traveling in Mexico, since it is not a standard size there.

Dianne made a cover from some leftover Sunbrella to keep the sun off it.

I've never used the luggage rack and it makes it harder to remove snow from the roof so I'm
glad its gone.
