Who has done ceramic film on front window?
What product did you use?
How wide was the product?
My local guy is willing to give it a try . He says the film only comes with in 42, or 48 inch rolls. I forgot which one.
Anyway they said they would put the 48" from the bottom up and then use a strip with a little darker tint at the top since the roll will not make it to the top.
How did it go for you?
Thx
Larry
What is the film supposed to do?
It reduces 95% of rays coming thru front windshield. No more hot driving into sun
Chris Lang may comment on here, as he installed Ceramic window film on his front window. I have just installed it on the side windows of our new truck and it seems to really help with the heat coming in. Did not opt for the front, as it is not cheap and the side windows were in the $100 range for two. Just a new tech that has hit the market and should do well. Time will tell!
Clear ceramic tint with a dark band above 8inches from top. Had it done in 2 coaches, don't know the brand.
3M™ Automotive Window Film Crystalline Series (https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b00016683/)
Yes, works.
Did they do that because the roll was only 48", or did they do it just to put the band at the top?
Looks like it comes in 60".
Did u put this 3m stuff on ur front window? Any problems with the curve on the outer edges
If you look at a windshield on the top right corner, some short distance down is a mark. This mark is the determined point for dark tint. If you are on the line or above you will be legal with DOT
No, it was a professional install. That product requires quite a bit of heat to install.
Who did the work for you? How much did it cost for the front window in 3m?
Thx
Larr
Back in 2015 $800. There was a place in Euless, TX, Last I know he moved to near Haslet Texas. There maybe a list of authorized installers, maybe on 3M web site. If I can relocate him in Haslet, I will report back. I believe a few others here also got the same product installed, at least one more that I know, by the same installer.
Edit: Yes the 3M web site has info for locating installers, see attached screen shot:
I had a local shop quote $700 6mnths ago. Didn't pull the trigger cause I got distracted, squirrel!
I have a local 3m guy in east wenatchee. He said he couldnt do it because of the bend in the glass in the corners. There is another guy in ellensburg that i will try. I am in Nac heading back to Wenatchee WA via cerritos ca to have my seat fixxed at villa intl. So i could have it installed in front window on the trip back if there was someone on the way
My installers clean the outside of the windshield and put the film on that and heat it to fit, remove it and bring it inside to install it, then heat it again to conform it.
Find a new installer.
Yep that's how they did mine. I do live two blocks from the entrance to hell and my tint installer convinced me to go way darker on the front windshield than I would of ever picked out for my self. Wow was he right. Its 50% on the front and 40% on the sides. He was so confident he said he would replace for free if I didn't like it. Yes it's dark but once installed I was convinced he was correct. You would never guess the tint percentage. I can't begin to explain how much better it is since it's been done. I have cameras on all sides while driving and nighttime isn't as good as it was pre tint. BUT it's amazing how much better the coach is. I am not recommending anyone to follow what I've done, but we love the coach with it done. Uv dropped like 98% and heat rejection in the 80%. Up side to the tint at nighttime I haven't wanted to hunt down anyone with illegal LED headlight. Takes the edge off. Ceramic is amazing!!!!
I don't know if it applies to motorhomes, but do check with your local law enforcement rules regarding window tint percentages on front and "cab" side windows. If too dark in a regular passenger vehicle, you can be ticketed.
I used the 3M installer look up.
That is how i found the guy in east wenatchee that wont do it.
I would prefer to go to someone that has done it before.
I am in Nac heading to LA next week, then to WA state.
Anybody in route that soneone knows would be great.
Could definitely go to halset, mr propman!
Try to find one in Fort Worth, TX, especially North side near Haslet, Keller, TX
>>> OK! I think this is the place did mine and Dave's Google Карты (https://maps.app.goo.gl/STQKDRv1YJJ4SqvS7) (before they moved to this location)
