Our sofa is really starting to show the wear. Has anyone found a reasonably priced replacement that they feel is better or equal to the Flex Steel original? Concerned with just doing reupholster since the sofa is over 20 years old. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ron
Pick any coach in your local dealers lot and it probably won't have as nice of furniture as that old flex steel stuff. Id reupholster.
Here's what $1500 in upholstery got me

Ron, I had an upholstery shop for about 10 years--If the metal isn't broken or rusted out and the plywood is not coming apart a good upholster can make it look new again--price won't be cheap but it will look new and you can choose the colors you want
If the plywood is starting to fray then the upholster can use cabinet grade plywood to replace any that is damaged
Just my 2 cents worth
Chris
If you want the exact fit and like the bed, rebuilding will assure everything will fit ok, the same. Hard to get a new piece to be sure it will be an exact fit.
MOT Remodeling redid our couch. Same innards but brand new everything else. We are thrilled with it.
