Title: Actual generator access latch
Post by: Lt403 on June 09, 2024, 11:05:17 am
Good morning everyone,
While servicing my generator the cover fell and broke the handle on the latch.

Has anyone replaced this before with aftermarket or
Do I need to call PowerTech?

Thanks

After scouring the Internet, I could not find the right size compression latch. They all were too short For the opening in the cover.
I sent an email yesterday to Powertech and had a reply early this morning that they had it in stock. $28.00 plus shipping.

I believe that's commonly called a slam latch.  I'm sure PowerTech doesn't make them so it would be interesting to see if your new latch comes with any manufacturer indication.

I opened the box from Powertech and it is NOT the right part for my application.
The cutout on the door is 1" wide and almost 4" high.

The latch they sent will leave a 1" opening.

I included the model & s/n in my original email & paid $21.00 in freight. 😳

Let's see what happens for the return!

The one they sent is marked "SPEP.COM"

This might not be exactly the right one but it might point you in the right direction:

Powertech told me to try McMaster Carr.

George that's it but it needs to be 95 mm.

Powertech doesn't make the door assembly either.
