Title: Re: 1984 FORETRAVEL - Vent fan question
Post by: quickmagic on June 02, 2024, 04:09:59 am
Hey, another question. Being this coach is a 1984, and the only thing I have seen for an owners manual is a 3 ring binder with maybe 25 to 50 hand typed pages mostly telling what not to do, but really no pictures of anything, at all that would be helpful.

What i have discovered recently is an exhaust fan in the galley, right above the stove. I thought it was a great idea, however, I cant find the switch to turn it on/off. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? And can anyone tell me if there is any sort of owners manual that would actually explain the different systems, how they worked and a troubleshooting guide.

Our coach is much newer than yours, 1999 U295,  so not sure what you got fan wise...but our fans start when cranked open. They are 3 speed and have an on/off dial on fan itself to control. Also a aftermarket fan, in kitchen put in by previous owners, runs off of a remote....kept in drawer near sink. Probably doesn't apply to your coach, just thought I'd throw it out there..

That is a Koolamatic fan. There should be a thermostat mounted on the wall, about 1 foot down from the ceiling. It should have a rocker switch marked high and low. Turn it one way or the other and then try moving the thermostat up or down and the fan should run. There might be a round knob protruding through the ceiling grill. Also try turning it as it controls the speed. Depends on exactly which model you have, but that is what was originally there. You can remove the thermostat and check for 12 volts. The motor might be stuck.

You should start a new post when you are changing questions not related to your original question. That way it will get more attention and also help in future searches for other people.
