Unfortunately, Travelin'Man passed away a couple of weeks ago. This is his son Brad and I have taken over the repairs he was performing on his coach. He was in the process of fixing the in dash Air Conditioning. I have now cleaned out all the A/C lines with compressed air and alcohol and have replaced the air dryer and the valve under the dash. I am in the process of replacing the A/C compressor as well but am unsure how much PAG 46 oil to put back into the system. I drained the oil from the factory out of the new compressor which came out to be about 4oz. Some places I read online say to add an extra ounce of oil per each foot of overall coach length, and others say not to worry about that. If anyone can give me advice or point me in the direction of someone who would know, I would appreciate it greatly. Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section or has been talked about before. I'm just trying to finish what my father started to fix. Thank you in advance.
Brad, years ago we used to figure 2oz per component plus 2oz for hoses after system was completely flushed. 2oz for condenser, 2oz for dryer, 2oz for evaporator, 2oz for compressor, 2oz for hoses. never had any issues. Jim.
An old Foretravel blog says 1 ounce per every 10 foot of the coach +4 ounces for the compressor
Thank you both for the quick replies.
