Title: Diesel engine oil change- are oil additives recommended?
Post by: cdm on June 25, 2024, 05:26:21 pm
When changing oil and filter in the coaches with diesel engines, Is it wise to add an additive in with the new oil? If so, any recommendations on which additive to use? I see there are a lot of different additives out there

In a word, NO.

Use an oil that meets the engine  manufacturer's specs (grade and viscosity) and call it done.

In an oil related subject.  Back when I was trying to solve my timing case leak issue I added some seal conditioner to the crankcase of the 8.3..... Well it didn't work but according to the directions I could use it in the hydraulic oil also ,, so I did.

Obviously you wouldn't really know if it helped because the pump or the fan motors or the power steering box aren't leaking ( knock wood ) but hopefully it helped.

I look at it like vitamins, I might have expensive urine but maybe it helps.
