Title: Kubota dies after a bit, bleed fuel, repeat
Post by: campipilot on July 12, 2024, 03:03:41 pm
Power tech PTS MH 10FT

Dies after anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes. I then bleed at the fuel rail, and have also at the fuel filter and always get air.  It then runs fine for a bit and dies again and I bleed it again. Replaced the crush washer on the bleed bolt, and the rubber o ring on the bleed bolt at the washer.  Can't figure out how air is getting in there?

Wondering if it could be the fuel pump.  When bleeding or priming it the pumps clicking sometimes gets inconsistent or occasionally stops clicking even when I know there is still air to get out.

Thoughts?

My manual says the pump is a 476459

You need to check the fuel lines for cracks on the suction side. If there is a bad spot you could be getting air in at that point. You may have to hook up some short pieces of fuel line to a bucket of fuel and let the gen run and see if you have any change.

You can get a replacement fuel pump at napa and other auto parts stores. If it is inconsistent with the clicking that would be the first thing to do. It is 30 years old.

I had same problem.  Replaced fuel pump. Problem disappeared.

Ordered a fuel pump today.  Will try that.  Fuel lines look in good shape, but if the pump doesn't do it I'll attack the lines.  Most lines are metal and fitting tight.  The lines to the tank are rubber but look in good shape but who knows
