Hi all,
I'm in the process of cleaning up my generator fan compartment while my power steering box is being rebuild. I noticed that there are two pink wires coming off the fan motor which are connected to what I think is a starting condenser. However one of the wires is not connected. I'm certain the motor was running last time I started the generator. Can someone confirm what these pink wires are for? Is there a complete wiring diagram for the generator fan out there somewhere? I did see post dated April 22, 2018 with a hand drawing but there's nothing in there about the pink wires.
Regards,
John
Are you referring to any of these wires?
These are pics from when we installed the new motor and capacitor.
The two wires you refer to are brown on my motor. They go to the start capacitor and I don't think the motor will start without the capacitor. Maybe it became disconnected when you removed it?
Yes, the start capacitor is what I suspected. Thanks. I guess they mounted it on the back side so wondering don't get a surprise. Do you know if there is a proper and complete schematic which includes the fan?
John
Schematic is on the motor. There are 7 wires to my fan motor. Two brown wires go to the capacitor. There are three power wires for three different fan speeds; mine are red, black, and blue. My fan is on low speed and the unused power wires are capped off. White wire is neutral and green is ground. Hope this helps.
Yes this helps a lot. Thank you.
