Title: Cleaning and degreasing the Kubota generator engine
Post by: Geodmann on July 22, 2024, 10:14:22 pm
While I've got the generator all taken apart I would like to clean the engine.  I'ts not too bad but it's oily and it has a lot of deteriorated insulation and other environmental debris on it.  My typical method of cleaning engines is to spray them down with Gunk foamy engine bright and then hose it off.  Of course I'm usually doing this on the gasoline engines in my trucks and I've never had so much as a hiccup from them due to the water.  I'm wondering if the Kubota would fair as well?  Anyone have any experience washing these engines with water?  I really don't want to create any problems.  Obviously I would keep the generator side dry for this.

Ive owned numerous Kubota engines, mostly tractors/loaders and pressure wash them all annually. Of course avoid blasting up into the air filter housing, and not too sure I would want a bunch of heavy water getting into the gen end.

However the way I cleaned my Kubota GENset when I refreshed it all last year. I used simple green in a spray bottle, a few old paint brushes to scrub the surfaces and recessed areas and a light spray from the garden hose. I happen to have some Kubota paint so also touched up any corroded areas.
