On my 2008 it appears that the pressure switch for the compressor maintains a set pressure mostly to be available for the slide bladders. When the system calls for air to inflate a bag for leveling the compressor runs even if the pressure switch is satisfied. I have had it in near excess slope conditions run the compressor trying to raise a corner and actually pop open the pressure relief valve. At some point excess slope or low battery will cause the auto level to give up.
A couple of ways to test if the pump is functioning. One turn the key on for your slides. If the amber light stops flashing it's made the vacuum switch. The only way it can do that is for the pump to run. You can go outside while you're waiting and see if it's running. The other easy one is open the air drain for your slide seal tank and see if the pump runs.
Dennis,
Not to hijack the thread but I've seen the same issue. My question is. Why does the HWH system ask for air that it is not using. If the pump is supplying air to the airbags for leveling purposes. How would it hit the pressure relief valve without being level. It should show excess slope and shut down. I've had this intermittent issue and it's frustrating to troubleshoot.
In my case the coach was trying to lift the left front corner. Problem was that it was out of room for further suspension travel. The bag was being pressurized with all the compressor was allowed with the relief popping. I was parked on soft, wet ground and I think that after it leveled, (barely) the left front sank and then the system tried to adjust. The coach was twisted enough that some of the bay doors were mis-aligned. I won't try that much adjustment again.
Absolutely. Why I often mention my coach model and year. Also, my coach is a 4 slide, with only 2 key switch stations. Each station has a rocker switch to select driver or passenger side. My system needs to confirm level before a slide can be opened, and al the slides have to in before the trans will go in gear or the parking brake gets released.
