Title: Floor thickness 1998 U320
Post by: Peter on July 24, 2024, 12:29:47 pm
This may be one of those "who cares" questions but does anyone know how thick the wood flooring is below the carpet and tile in the foretravel substructure?

Mine is 3/4 inch plywood.  I removed the carpet in the whole coach and the tongue and grove wood floor in the kitchen area.
Then I replaced it with the new type of flooring.

From removing several floors in 320's, the floor has been consistent with 3/4 inch nominal!  Removing the kitchen flooring is the hardest I have ever seen bar none with years of floor removals.  I think that glue came from NASA!

On mine there was a metal subfloor between the tongue and groove and the plywood.  So all I had to do was get a crowbar
and get it between the metal and the plywood.  There was no glue between the metal and the plywood.  It's not as easy as it sounds
but when I figured that out it came out in blocks so that helped.

Just for reference, the plywood floor on my 1991 U300 is only 3/8" thick.
I still have the section of floor I cut out for an entry stair remodel I did a long time ago. Converting stairwell from 2 steps to 3 steps (1991 and earlier Unihomes) (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=30826.msg268725#msg268725)
Surprisingly, the ceramic tile I install in the front half of the coach 20 years ago is still in very good shape.  No cracks or separation at grout.  It's installed directly on the plywood per Foretravels recommendation back then.
