I figure someone knows the answer to these questions.
When plugged into shore power, is the original converter designed to charge the starting battery. the house battery or both?
There is room for 3 8D's in the battery bay. Were there 2 start batteries or 2 house batteries?
OE was for the converter to ONLY charge the house battery bank.
OE (at least on the 1993 U240) was two 8D's for house and one for start. With the Cummins B engine, you certainly don't need more than one 8D to start!
Thanks Brett. I just discovered that what I thought was the starting battery (on the right when looking into the bay) is the house battery. At least that one is currently being charged by the converter.
It didn't matter while I was off the grid using solar power with a battery maintainer but for some reason I assumed it was the other way around and I just realized it as I'm getting ready to connect in my new lithium battery.
After 3 days I thought that 8D battery would be 12.5 or 12.6 and it's 13.08.
Yes, at least on the 1993 U240, the single 8D start battery is AFT/behind of the two 8D house batteries.
