Bob,

I have a couple of questions
1. What type of fluid is that all over the retarder actuator valve?
2. What brand of fuel line are you using?

My research indicated 1,800 CCA for C8.3.

Mike.
The stuff on the retarder switch might be greasy residue. It's right in line with the universal joint. In fact there's a big blob of red grease that you can see just barely. Haven't got around to cleaning it off after the summer greasing.

And B.  The fuel line I fear is the type that right after I bought the coach (9yrs) I read that a repair guy ( name escapes me) in Nac was using improperly.  I've been crossing my fingers that it doesn't cause problems.  Says for occasional diesel use I believe.
  Is that why you ask.

Chuck.
So I should fuse the 3 leads from the batteries?

Bob,

1. That is a lot better than it coming out the exhaust side of the valve as that is big trouble.
2. Somewhat. Though I have been talking lately with Stewart hose about a diesel hose that the oil field is using and it looks brighter red. It is slightly cheaper than Trident hose that some have installed and is available locally for us.  If your coach is one of those that had that questionable hose installed 9 years is beyond what was expected life estimate.

Well terrific, now I surely need to clean that valve to see where the residue is coming from.

And since I was considering replacing the AC lines  I imagine the fuel lines should be replaced at the same time.

It's an RV.  It's always something.
