Title: 2005 U320 air bags
Post by: Hmoran on September 07, 2024, 07:15:04 pm
Hi folks, in the very near future I need to replace all the airbags on my 2005 U320. I'm having trouble getting any numbers from the original airbags! Would anyone know the correct part numbers for the airbags? I have a part number for Contitech  bags
# 64286 -99-12 p563 Would these numbers be correct? #as9448?
Thanks Harvey

You probably have Firestone W01-348-9448 but there are many brands exactly the same. Conti (Continential Tire and Rubber) uses almost the same part number and are usually the best deal Conti AS9448. The tag axle on some coaches uses a different bag. Good place to start for info, photos, etc, etc is https://duckduckgo.com/?q=air+bag+part+numbers+for+a+foretravel&ia=web

Ask members the latest prices and vendor. I bought ours for around $80 a few yeaers ago but have seen them advertised for over $200. Prices have gone up also.

Are you doing the work yourself?

Some info from the wiki that may help: Air Bag / Air Springs (https://wiki.foreforums.com/doku.php?id=technical:air_system:air_bags)

I don't see a parts list for the 2005, but there is one for the 2003.  I'd imagine a lot is the same.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies.  In the past, I would normally do as much of the repairs as possible on my previous coaches but not the airbags (I don't bend like I used to!) We do have an appointment with Keith in early November to change the airbags and check other items, the bags look pretty bad and would like to have a couple on board while traveling from CT to TX!
I'll have to try to get ahold of Keith to confirm numbers.  Harvey

Keith Risch has a local source for the air bags and may have some in stock.

There is also this on the forum The selected media item is not currently available.
And the wiki has a section specifically on air bags that includes part numbers, diagrams, and links to topics on replacement:

I have a 2005 U320 with tag.  In 2020 I replaced my bags with Firestone Air-ride Air Springs, W01-358-9448 as Goodyear 1R11-150 wasn't available.  Had to use three different vendors at the time because of limited stocks - Michigan Truck Spring, Stengel Brothers and Big Rig Components.

Very pleased with the exact duplicate Firestones.  Fyi, there are members that are pleased with the Contitech bags which are less expensive - Contitech Air Spring 64286/1R11-150/8563.

I have not included the different part numbers for the two types of bags for my lift tag axle.

This is what Keith Risch put on my '03 u320.. he said quality was as good as the others and they were cheaper.. I had to get the bags for the lifting tag from Foretravel..... Keith has them in stock typically...

On the parts listing, above, there is an error:
the part number for the 3 gel batteries  should be 8G8D  not  SGHD.
Note that the first digit should be  an "8"  not  an "S".
