Is there a trick to open the toilet door from the outside when it's locked? I closed the door and it locked me out. 2004 U295.
Picture of your lock? On my '99 a coin unlocks it.
When looking at the lock it looks like a screw driver slot so as Chuck said a coin will open it.
On mine my finger nail will open it.
On my 2002 the button is built into the handle with no coin slot to unlock. I was able to take a business card put a slight bend in the end ( to pass by the door stop) insert the card above the handle passing all the way past the thickness of the door and slide the card down past the handle and viola it popped right open. The handle really needs a way to unlock from outside, bad design. Jim.
Remove the lock.
But Barry I don't want you walking in on me when I'm doing my duty. Jim.
We've had that happen to us a time or two, a small coin or washer will unlock ours. As we like to keep that door closed when driving, mainly to keep the front climate steady, locking and unlocking had become a bit of a pain to do so. I removed those locks last year. While out I cut a washer in half to make a small half moon shape/ small handle that would fit in that slot. Then as memory serves was able to get the two metals to accept Solder and joined it all together. Low enough profile that the doors still fully close into their pockets, but high enough that the fingers have something to grab and rotate.
And yes I had already adjusted the stop locks at the back of the doors to hold them in the pockets, but still on occasion the doors would slam shut going down the road.
If mine had not had the slot, I would have drilled a small hole into whatever the handle had, tap and put a small screw in it for something to grab.
Are we talking about two different door locks here? I have a pocket door like that shown in the photo and on the private toilet room which is a hinged door there is a completely different type of latch. I like to travel with the pocket door closed to keep the cat in the front and also sometimes when cornering the pocket door will slam open and closed.
You have a good idea there but the O/P was having an issue with his door on the private toilet room door. Not the pocket doors. Jim.
Ours did that- sprayed some WD in it- works great now
OP never stated what type of door they had other than it was for the bath room. As it was an 04 U295 and mine is a 01 U295 I figured we both had pocket doors on the entrance to the bath room. the only hinged doors in our U295 are for closets or cabinets.
We have two pocket doors, one from kitchen to shower/vanity room and one from bedroom to shower/vanity room and then the hinged door to the private potty room with a totally different locking mechanism.
