Title: Thermostat Issue
Post by: "Irish" on October 15, 2024, 07:01:19 pm
We have the original  DuoTherm 5 button thermostat in our 99 U270 with a gas heater and two AC units.
Problem when AC is in cooling mode, the fan runs constantly even when no cooling is called for and no matter what the fan setting is.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Both roof AC? Brand of AC? A while ago, one model AC built their system to run fan motor all the time when in cooling mode, even when compressor is not running. Is this a new problem for you, or are you the next owner with an ongoing problem? Everyone disliked the continuous fan run, but I am not sure if there is known setting or modification that could make fan only run when compressor is running. If build that way, a home-made mod could be made with a relay on fan wire that closes with compressor power.

Check the thermostat to determine if you can set the AC fan speeds. Usually, 3 speeds and auto. If you set to one of these speeds the fan will run continuously at the speed. Set to Auto and it should cycle with the compressor.

Press the fan button on the thermostat, HI, LO, AUTO.

Makes no difference, it still runs,
Guess it may need a rebuild??
