Title: Windshield Stress Cracking
Post by: JCinPA on October 20, 2024, 07:14:28 pm
1999 U320 I found a stress crack in the left top corner of my drivers side windshield today, has anybody else had this problem and figured out what caused it?
Thank you,
John

Have seen several that one front side raise solenoid had failed (not opening) The system tried to make up by opening the opposite side to compensate and this twisted the front cap and causing the crack.

I had it happen on the passenger window going down my gravel driveway. Not sure why. Must've been due to some kind of twisting.

I can't remember if Elliott's off road adventure cracked his windshield. If it didn't the windshield will take some twisting.

These things can twist quite a bit. I can tell if I'm twisted by if I can open the closet doors. I can be level and still have a twist. It's pretty common for the windshield to crack eventually.
