Title: Kwikee Step Replacement
Post by: zmpm01 on December 18, 2024, 01:01:10 pm
Happy Holidays to all,

Has anyone replaced there Kwikee step recently? I have an original Kwikee step that is in decent shape except on 1 bolt hole that's a little out of round on the step linkage, The gearbox linkage that attaches to the step snapped and there are no original replacement parts, it's going to require a retro fit kit. The motor, gearbox and control box, I was looking at the new step's and I can't tell if the new steps attachment points are bolted to the steps linkage or are attached with brads / large rivets. I found an invoice in my paperwork from the previous owner attached to step paperwork for some small shoulder bolts that are now mounted on the step's and was wondering are the step's normally braded / riveted or bolted?

Thanks for the info. Mike

The OEM model in 2003 should have been these: The selected media item is not currently available. That mentions rivets in the maintenance section.

That is the same one used on my '81 FTX. I had to weld washers over the worn out holes then used bolts & lock nuts to replace rivets.

I replaced the motor and linkage a few months ago.
Initially, I just purchased the linkage, but then the bolts for the motor did not fit the holes on the linkage.
I ended up buying the motor and the linkage as a package and installed it with no problems.
