So this is essentially instead of a Trik-L-Start type device to keep those charged when parked/camped for a while?
Yes, that is true. I had a trickle for the start batteries from the Multiplus, however it did not work well because of the length of conductor necessary to reach start batteries from the Location of the Multiplus. I was able to put the IP22 under the bed with a very short connection to start batteries at the original isolator.
Herb - did you install the IP22 smart charger in the box part of the foot of the bed or the engine compartment? I've just started researching it vs. the IP67. I understand that some models of the IP22 have a fan in them which might be audible if mounted in the box part under the bed.
I put mine in box portion along with my battery to battery charger. Running 12 volt wiring over top of compartment to Isolator area for connections to batteries. I did not want these expensive chargers in the engine compartment. Besides the.box was a better home for them. No fan that I am aware of on the IP22 so no problem with noise. Quiet. I powered the IP22 from the engine heater outlet which I have never needed. I turn it off when underway as the inverter operates it and no need to run it with the alternator charging the start batteries. Sometimes I forget to turn it off when underway, does not seem to have caused any harm. Also If I forget to flip it back on sometimes, I will see the start battery slowly drop and remember to turn it back on. Not a problem worth doing anything about.
I bought the IP22 because it talks to the system and I can check my batteries from afar.
I installed a Victron Orion B2B 12/12 18 charger. Connected from house lithium batteries as the input and outputs to chassis batteries. I have an ignition sensing switch that turns it off when the key is on. Very configurable and tailors charge profile for your start batteries. Located at the foot of the bed and protected by circuit breakers. Short connection from house side of boost solenoid and short connection to chassis batteries. Shows up on my Victron connect app on phone. Turns off at low voltage setting from house side which is configured in app.
Once my lithium batteries are fully charged they turn charging off, My inverter/charger maintains ~13.6 volts. When needed I simply close the boost switch and let the 13.6 volts float charge the AGM chassis batteries.
Using boost solenoid to maintain two battery banks opens the door where one bank could deplete the other bank, leaving both banks depleted. Save the boost solenoid to start engine with both banks or other emergency needs. There are better options for charging start battery bank with engine off, some with manual control

Yes! Using the boost switch does require being managed. Of importance is that once disconnected from power, turning off the generator, or otherwise turning off the inverter/charger boost needs to be turned off so as not to deplete all the batteries. My Inverter Charger is the FREEDOM XC PRO Marine 3000, 3000W, 150A, PN: 818-3015.
This delvers up to 150 amps for charging batteries and supporting DC loads. I have 880 A/H lithium.
My plan was to replace the diode black with an ACR relay. I may still do that. However, the diode block set up works very well with isolating the current draw from the lithium's to the engine alternator voltage sense that the system works well, as is with the 270 A/H alternator.
