Title: Cable run from Multiplus II to Cerbus GX
Post by: DaBus on January 11, 2025, 09:06:53 am
I need to connect our Multiplus to the Cerbus GX via VE Direct cable.  Our 42 has the inverter in the bay with HWH vacuum compressor on the driver side mid coach and the Cerbus GX is on the passenger side next to what used to be the propane tank (revmoved for lithium batteries).  Before I try to play with this, how have others routed cables left to right?

Are you also mounting a Cerbo display?  If so, consider the length (very short) of the display cable (permanently attached to the display) for location of the Cerbo GX.  Steve found it dictated where he could mount our Cerbo GX.

Have not decided on the Touch 50 yet but the area that the old display for the 2500 remote is directly above where the Cerbus GX is located.  Still longer than what comes with the Touch though by about 4 feet.

Yeah, that's the issue.  I don't believe there's an extension cable available for the Touch displays.

You could use USB and HDMI extension cables to extend, they are just not officially supported.

Use high quality extension cables and keep them as short as required and you *should* be OK.  I believe the USB is only to supply power, so you could power that with a local USB power source and not rely on the Cerbo USB port (should you find there is to much power loss).

We were able to keep the Cerbo close to the display, which was one less thing to deal with in our ongoing install.

On the other side of the HWH bay is the chassis batteries? and at the back top of the bay is a panel hiding all the wiring. You can take the screws out and see everything. Should be plenty of room for the VE direct cable.

I put the Cerbus and touch screen above the microwave where the old panel was. I pulled the fridge out so I could run the wires to the Cerbus.

Much to my chagrin, on looking at the Multiplus connections, it has no VE Direct connections, only VE BUS which is just rj45 Ethernet cable.  Guess Amazon will be getting the VE Direct cable back.  There are 2 vents in the inverter bay and one in the bay with the Cerbus GX.  Will explore this access to the main cable run.  The story continues.  Just to make more interesting, the Multiplus was installed vertical on a wall with no access to get to the screws to remove the plate that allows the various connections.  Have to take it off the wall to get at the screws.  Will install a 1 foot Ethernet  male/female extension in both positions to not have to go thru this goat rope again.

Maybe something like a screw with a wing nut head
