I too am getting a FBP, but not in America. My 01' U320 36ft is now in Rocky Point MX, along with a few little gel coat repairs..... keeping it basically original with the swirls, but changing the poo brown to a dark green, almost black. Paint job is 8500.... I'm all in for 11,500 which includes travel expenses from Sav GA, flights food fuel etc. Here's a few pics of the progress. I'll be picking up the coach in two weeks.
Keep us updated ^.^d
I wonder about painting outdoors. Is the climate just that perfect there and they don't struggle with bugs and environmental debris in the finish or do they have to buff it out? Are they able to paint all year? Certainly eliminates a lot of equipment with the paint booth and air filtration but seems like they would lose a lot of paint in the breeze.
Years ago I was repairing a hole in the bottom of a jet ski. It was upside down in the Nevada sun. Could easily put your hand on the white glass. Was using a green fiberglass filler and it was blistering HOT. I was unaware at that time to the real heat gain by different colors. Green is higher than black. Was amazing in the difference. Changed the colors I prefer in the desert.
George, the weather in RP this time of year is sunny and highs from 68-80.. when I was there for the first few days, I never saw/felt any bugs like gnats/mosquitos and the winds were very calm.
He, (Antonio) is in the process of making an enclosure. This is basically in his "yard" which is nice because he lives right there and everything is safe. I have personally met others that have had Antonio paint their FT and have been super satisfied. I'll post more pictures and updates of what is going on.
I've got the 2004 scheduled with Antonio in April. Traveling from Atlanta. Let me know if you have any tips for the trip.
I read an article on ivr2 about man named Carlos in the same area that does all his prep outside but sprays paint in a building Wonder if it is the same guy
Antonio painted mine 4 years ago and did it outside at Playa Bonita Resort. The day he planned to paint was very windy so we postponed until the next day and had no issues. Leave yourself plenty of time to inspect the job. You can take a micro fiber towell and or your hand feeling for any grit. Antonio will buff out any thing that isn't slick. Inspecting the work on a paint job goes for where ever your having it done be it California, Nachogdoches Tx or Rocky Point. It's been said many times but I will repeat, you wont get the level of a paint job you will get and we have come to expect from the likes of Extreme but It's not bad, maybe even pretty good. Enjoy the trip, I certainly did.
Got an update from Antonio and a few pics. I'm super psyched to see the coach in person. It's looking great
Here is the outcome of the FBP done by Antonio in MX. To say that I'm happy and excited about is an understatement! The Ol' Girl is back and even better looking than she was in 2001! Got rid of the poo brown for a deep dark green.
Awesome looking indeed it is!
