Hello guys. I am trying to figure out what the battery wiring is on this motorhome. There is 3 8D batteries in this bay. Need to replace starting battery. It looks as if the #1 on left has the ground jumper with the #3 battery on the right. There does not seem to be any positive jumper. This leads me to believe that the #1 battery is the starting battery for the engine and the other 2 are the house batteries. Thoughts? See pics below for battery configuration and Vin tag.
Thanks in advance!
That is the same setup I had in my '91. Yes, the left battery is the start battery.
Yes left is Start. Battery. Boost switch on dash connects all 3 together.
Also engine battery does not get charged off of house charger. Only when engine is running. Unless you leave boost switch on.
If dry camping make sure to turn boost switch off so you don't deplete all 3 batteries.
In my 91 I have 3 group 31 batteries for my start battery. They are linked together with these. Amazon.com: High Soar Overmolded Battery Harness 14 Inch Red Positive... (https://a.co/d/9eODtxb) The thicker red cable goes to the starter, the thinner one runs up to the boost solenoid that is on the panel just to the left of the batteries. The 3 battery cable I linked has 2 posts to connect to, so you can split them up, or connect them together. I tied them to the same post and used the spare posts on the end for the battery maintainer. The 3 of them spin the engine over with no issues. She fires right up.
Now that you know which batteries are which, it might be in your best interests to dismantle and clean all those connections.
