Has anyone changed out their shower control valve to a different manufacturer?
We have the original Moen 2700P (Moentrol) polished brass shower trim. Looking to update the bath and currently entertaining a Kohler option, but that means changing the shower control valve.
Steve found these 2 posts which are helpful:

What did you do to your coach today. (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=13754.msg77491#msg77491)
The reason we're looking at Kohler is that we actually want a polished gold since we're not changing out the shower surround, plus it looks good with the cherry interior. Kohler seems to be about the only brand that has one.
Can you post a link to the Kohler option you are leaning towards? This project has inched closer to the top of our to-do list, and your timing is about perfect.
We're looking at options in the Vibrant French Gold finish. They run the gamut from uber-traditional to modern/contemporary. Any shower trim swap will require Steve to dig into the plumbing. Most appear to be special order, though, so we need to contact our local Ferguson to see how long the lead time is.
There are many options in the gold/brass family if someone wants a brushed finish. Those still require a new shower valve (Moen doesn't appear to have one that works with the 2700 valve our coach has.) There are a couple of vendors that make brushed nickel and ORB (or maybe it's black) trims for the existing Moentrol valve.
Brass is making a comeback and your options should be more available. I switched mine whole assembly out for bushed nickel.
I redid my shower, I got rid of the ugly gold brass, I used the same Moen controls. Just changed everything over to a brushed bronze. I bought everything off of Amazon. Looks updated and works great!
