Title: Antifreeze, how many gallons required
Post by: "Irish" on April 13, 2025, 06:41:17 pm
Does anyone know how many gallons of antifreeze I will need to buy to fill the radiator coolant system in a 99 36' u270 (Cummins isc 8.3.  350hp)
Reading old posts I think it's about 16 gallons.
Thanks driving to Cincinnati tomorrow to pick up and have no idea allowing for the long heater hose to the front etc
Thanks
David

Is it empty now? I think the capacity is 14-15 gallons. I buy concentrate and distilled water and mix it 50-50. That is cheaper than premixed. If it still has antifreeze in it, pretty hard to get much more than 10-12 gallons to drain out.

From the 1999 Owners Manual in the files section The selected media item is not currently available.
p.101

U270/U295 ISC8.3 Cummins 15 gallons (approx.)

Buy concentrate, open heater valve, flush, drive, flush, drive, flush, drive, drain, fill concentrate, top off with distilled water. Since a lot of will remain after drain, that water will mix with concentrate before top off.

my 96 320 held 16 gallons in the engine/radiator and another 16 gallons in the Aqua Hot.  Walmart questioned my purchase.
