I just installed mine and can't wait to try it out!
What is a VMS 500?
Vehicle data monitoring system, for those that have the appropriate interface connector.
VMS500 – SilverLeaf Electronics (https://silverleafelectronics.com//?page_id=3552)
ETA - Guessing that as with VMSpc, if you have an older coach (I think the changeover from mechanical to electronic was in '96/'97) it won't be useful for engine data, but maybe transmission.
Does this take the place of Prolink9000?
How much does it cost
The screen looks kinda small for all the data I have on my Acer tablet that I can see at a glance without having to scroll.
Just a thought.
If the physical part is the same as the VMSpc hardware then any laptop or tablet could use the original software for VMSpc. and have what wasn't available when Roger had to stop selling them for lack of hardware.
It appears to have a hardwired 9-pin J1939 directly into the display unit and there doesn't appear to be an output from the display unit.
VMSpc hardware used an interface module device (I think it was called a "JIB") that the cable from the 6 or 9-pin connector plugged into and then a cable output to a USB connector that plugged into a computer or tablet. The module did the translations/communication and that's probably what became unavailable.
Didn't VMSpc also require Windows 10 or lower?
I'm intrigued and not at all put off by the size of the display (whatever it is). Seems like a Scangauge D on steroids and I'm a big fan of that. Of course availability and price are the two main limitations. I could call the phone number listed but if anyone knows please share.
The cost is $599.00
Here are a few photos of mine. It's very easily programmable to show what you want.

Looks nice but I'm glad I have a VMSpc and ability to see everything at once. Would be a great alternative if/when the VMSpc dies.

Agree. Having a single place screen for all the critical information while driving is a plus. I really like the trip log though. I haven't messed around with VMSPC to see if it allows anything similar. Currently I have metrics for trip (multi-days and weeks when on the road) and one for daily milage/MPG) set up. Reset the daily at the stat of the day. Would be nice to have that automated and display it in a historical log

That is super interesting. Could you please provide some dimensions of the unit and of screen?
How flexible is it to set up screens with various gauges? I assume you have have multiple screens for information as well, like if you really wanted to drill into a specific area?
I currently use BlueFire with an android tablet and have been very pleased with it.
I like the green dots on Rogers' unit.
I think he is asking is if the VMS 500 screens can be programed to show "idiot" lights? Unless you know what green/yellow/red zones are for each system, the value displayed is ambiguous. How does, or can, this new unit show good/caution/warning indicators?
Also thanks for sharing, this is a very interesting product.
Since VMSpc has not been available I recently added a Scangauge D which has been nice, but there is no way to set alarms. I too would like to know if I would be able to set alarms with a VMS500? Also, have you been able to get transmission retard temp? If anyone knows the PID code for the transmission retard please share, I am trying to add it to my Scangauge.
You can check

and

... but it appears that should be PID 120 .. but not all systems have all PID's
Thanks for the information, I will see if I can do something with this!
