I have been looking online at 98 u295. Owner says it is a mechanical C. Brochure says it is electronic. Could it be a leftover 1997? I remember reading in this forum about obsolete hydraulic pumps or motors.Would this unit have that problem. Other than the bulkhead problem os there anything I should know. Thanks
If it is a 98 it would most likely be a mechanical 8.3, if it is a Cummins. Also if it has a mechanical 8.3 in it with an electric throttle, they can be a problem if they fail. The hydraulic pumps you are the ones that where obsolete, but through the efforts a a forum member are available again. However the failure rates are rare. Not to discourage you but things on a 25 plus year old motor home are getting hard to find.

as Doug says a very late model 98 could be an iISC.
