Title: ORED Rear Brake Parts
Post by: Elliott on June 24, 2025, 03:55:43 pm
I'd like to have a mechanic replace my rear brake drums but he's been unable to find part numbers despite having the serial number for the rear axle. Can anyone help me out with the part #s for drums, shoes, and hardware kits for an 87 ored's rear axle?

Have you contacted the manufacturer of the rear axle with your axle PN?

I'm honestly not sure who I would call. Rockwell international broke up in 2001 from the looks of it.

I would start with Meritor/Arvin-Meritor.

You might call these folks and see if one of their old time parts books can help you.

I overheated the rear brake drums on my 1981 Foretravel Travco and needed a bunch of brake parts as well. The NAPA store in Yuma has a shop and they were able to turn one of the drums. I got the brake parts I needed at an old truck parts store in Yuma. Some had been sitting on his shelf for 30 years. He also had a catalogue and was able to order kits with the springs etc. Another truck parts store in Yuma had a brake drum in stock.
I would start here...
hydraulic brake drums and brake parts for trucks - Google Search (https://www.google.com/search?q=hydraulic+brake+drums+and+brake+parts+for+trucks&sca_esv=ccb8066356fd07b7&rlz=1C1ONGR_enUS1163US1168&sxsrf=AE3TifM4-LMoNgOIjJLOViqNSJe4EjnsPA%3A1750805315653&ei=QytbaOnQJ9nN0PEPlLWkkAc&ved=0ahUKEwip_qOHkouOAxXZJjQIHZQaCXIQ4dUDCBA&oq=hydraulic+brake+drums+and+brake+parts+for+trucks&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiMGh5ZHJhdWxpYyBicmFrZSBkcnVtcyBhbmQgYnJha2UgcGFydHMgZm9yIHRydWNrczIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRirAkiH_wFQ2hZYuPEBcAF4AZABAJgBgwGgAfwfqgEEMi4zM7gBDMgBAPgBAZgCJKAC_iHCAgoQABiwAxjWBBhHwgIHECMYsAIYJ8ICBRAAGO8FwgIIEAAYogQYiQXCAggQABiABBiiBMICChAhGKABGMMEGArCAggQIRigARjDBMICBBAhGArCAgUQIRifBZgDAIgGAZAGCJIHBDEuMzWgB9izAbIHBDAuMzW4B_YhwgcIMC44LjIxLjfIB8YB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp)

Thanks guys, I'll follow up on the links you shared and see where I get. I did manage to get my hands on the BOM for my axle (attached), so I have another thread to pull on there but an online search for the part numbers isn't yielding much.

Hey Elliot. Why not try James Holder> He has a couple old Foretravels and is a service Mgr in TN.
Great guy and unfortunately very difficult to get a hold of.
I will look up his number and get back to you.

Measure the drum and check the specs on ebay.  I have found all of the hard parts there.  Lots of NOS.    Mine are 15/5 ?
