Post by: Spowell on July 01, 2025, 11:58:22 pm
Anyone have their oil changed at a Loves Truck Stop?  I would assume they would know what they are doing??

Especially if they try to monkey-fist the drain plug on (assuming you don't have a Femco or No Spill).

Remind them there oil pan is aluminum and wil strip if over tightened. Every one of them will over tighten them along with the filters.

No, but I did use Speedco on a previous coach. They did ok.  Tell them not to lube the gease zerks on the brakes on a FT.

It's safer assuming they don't know what they are doing and proceed accordingly.

We've used Speedco a couple of times for an oil change.  Every time though they state they don't have the fuel filter for our ISM 450.  Even had one tech say he had never even seen that fuel filter.  It's  why I carry 2 of each  the FS 1001 and the FS 19592.  And ditto on the  brake zerks.  Speedco will say they only use high temperature grease, but I doubt that's accurate.

We put thin cable ties tight around each brake zerk and leave the tail hanging out.  The idea is discourage greasing them and hoping grease guy will ask why.

Scott, Beware, I'm sure there's some good techs out there, but I feel for every one good one there's at least 2 not so good.

Speedco NIGHTMARE!!! (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=47635.msg482538#msg482538)

Not trying to start another oil debate but that's another synthetic oil perk,go 20k miles on a Cummins 8.3 with 1 oil change or
4 or 5 changes with dino oil.
