I'm about to change oil in my powertech 10-K. How much capacity and what kind of oil ? Also, there is the oil fill on the valve cover, and an oil fill on the injector pump. Do I put oil there, also? If so, where to drain? Thanks guys, Ron
Ron,
If this generator is in the '93 U300 that in your signature it could have 2 different power units (engines). Back then I think they only used the Kubota and the Isuzu engines as this was before the time of the Perkins engines. So to help with some of your questions we need to know which power unit you have as each engine has different requirements.

Thanks Mike, yea mine has the kubota engine.also wondering why the oil fill cap on the injector pump with no dipstick.
Our 1993 U300 has the oil filler with the oil fill/dipstick mounted on the oil pan. The models with the oil filler by the injection pump appear to have the black dip stick also but the photo is not clear. They also have a yellow dip stick in the block. Perhaps your original was lost and replaced with the non-dipstick variety.
Our generator had a foul exhaust odor, especially up at altitude. I changed to 15-40 Shell Rotella T6 full synthetic and that cut the smell down quite a bit.
Not a fan of Perkins diesels
Pierce
I also use the Rotella T-6 full synthetic.
I use that oil in the engine and fan/steering system too.
