Title: Generator 1993 Foretravel U300
Post by: Sjoerd on August 06, 2025, 07:32:26 pm
Hello,

My generator stopped working this morning. It is a V1305BG-E as far as I know and the fan belt broke. Pretty simple to fix, but it wasn't....

The belt broke because the tension pully was not 100% in line, the bearings were damaged so the pulley damaged the belt and it broke. Now I need a new tension pully, but the problem is, I can't find the correct part number. or a replacement part number. I called power tech and they say go to napa for a replacement part. But I did, and they said we cannot help you without a number.

There is no number on the damaged pulley, if there was, the number is scraped off.

I found a part manual in the forums, but that manual is for an engine with a alternator, the kubota engine I have doesn't have the alternator, only the water pump and fan is powered by the belt.

anybody with an idea? or has had the same problem and can tell me a part number I can use?

I don't know if it will help, but can you post a photo of the pulley assembly and a ruler or tape measure for illustration purposes?

Clarify,  Is your Generator set a  "Power Tech  PTS MH-10"?  If so, the "Tension Pulley" is the "Generator". From the Owners manual, "Tension adjustment";  Loosen the two bolts holding the generator, and adjust until proper tension is obtained. Be sure to re-tighten the nuts and bolts after adjustment.

If you can find a "seasoned" parts guy at napa he will search for one even collaborating with others in the store. New parts people are lost without a number, I've always felt a good parts guy should have been a mechanic for several years first. Jim.

Yes, that is correct. But I need a new part or a replacement OEM part, its difficult for a pre internet generator ;-)

Take it off and swing by a Kubota tractor store and just tell the parts fellow you need one of these, don't mention what it came off of.  Now once I did get a frownie face when I mentioned the part came off a Hobbie horse so you might not use that expression.  Our local Kubota tractor dealer is a great resource for parts in this area.

That is the bracket indeed, but I needed the wheel. I went to Napa, searched for the oldest guy in the shop and challenged him. He found a tension pulley wheel that works! Generator is fixed and running again! Amazing tips on this forum, I did visit O'reilly's but they didn't understand and needed part numbers. The Napa guy from the store in Reno was awesome! If I need something, I'll go to him. Thanks!!  A 1993 generator up and running again.

For the record, is there a part number? Manufacturer? Photo?
