Hello all, I'm looking at a 97 u320 that has a rebuilt title due to frontend damage, all damage was repair by a professional shop and the coach has zero issues related to the work. My question is how much does the rebuilt title affect the value of the coach. Im not buying this one to resell, I'm buying it to enjoy
While not buying for resale, with a rebuilt title I believe your insurance coverage limits may be limited, possibly to liability only.
It might be tough to insure so check that first. I'd also strongly suggest an inspection by an inspector that is familiar with Foretravel specifically.
Personally I'm too faint of heart for that. 😇
Price would be about half at most of what a perfect coach would be, and selling it would be a limited number of interested buyers.
A rebuilt title wouldn't scare me away if the price was right and I planned to enjoy it. How about other issues unrelated to the front end work? Service records? As Jeff and Sandy suggested, an inspection would be prudent unless you are familiar with Foretravels.
With these warnings in mind for setting purchase price, it might be a great opportunity to obtain an inexpensive coach. None of em are appreciating investments. As Jeff says, an inspection by a knowledgeable inspector with extensive Foretravel specific experience would be prudent.
That said there are some strong deals on used coaches in great shape out there. If you buy one with title issues your offer needs to be shockingly low.
I bought a U295 with unrepaired front cap damage, repaired it myself, and enjoyed 100K miles of trouble free travel for an investment measured in peanuts. Searching the forum may give you some guidance on front cap issues. See if you can get some pictures of damage prior to repair, post em up for comments.
thank yall I'm going to look at it Saturday so I will get as much info and pics I can
When I was digging earlier, I came across some posts from 10 years ago where there were folks asking about a salvage-titled 1997 U320. Not the same one; that one had flood damage but had been rebuilt. Price on the ads 10 years ago were in the $25-27K range, so would be much lower today.
Just some historical data for your consideration.
If your buying it to enjoy your question is irrelevent, the rule of thumb is 50% of value, contact Dave and Dannette Daust on the forum, they have a beautiful 2005 rebuilt title in perfect shape.
