Title: No audit video from Javelina Tank Monitor
Post by: Tim D on August 24, 2025, 06:38:04 pm
After working for the three years we've owned it, we're finally having some problems with the Audit system. It seems like the system is no longer putting out video for the tank monitor.

The previous owner made the switch to an LCD monitor, which showed both the rear view camera and tank monitor until a few days ago. Now we can see the rear view camera feed, but no video signal for the monitor, regardless of dash switch position.

I tried re-routing the camera back through the Audit system, and when the switch is in the right position the rear view video works, so it's not a wiring problem between the Audit system and the monitor.

Any other troubleshooting ideas? I've checked the fuse, which is intact (and powers the camera any as well). Are there any other system components I should be looking at?

I'd like to avoid converting to the SeeLevel system, but that's probably my plan b!

The backup monitor was/is  basically a pass through signal where as the Audit/Javelina used an internal video generator to show tank levels and maybe compass/temperature (not sure when that started).

If its original then 33 or 34 years is a good long run for that system!  It maybe something simple like a puffed cap or blown diode or even a simple board level fuse.  If you are comfortable taking things apart you maybe able to see an obvious failure.  Its going to be mostly  through hole components so easy to replace parts if you see an obvious issue.

Maybe someone has an one they removed when they upgraded to a Seelevel that they may want to sell.  I've seen some older Javelina systems from salvage yards but they tend to want crazy $

Thanks Steve, I appreciate the confirmation. After trying to track down anything I could see, and pulling apart the control unit to look for something glaring, it seems I'm at a loss for anything else I can diagnose myself.

Looks like it's time for an upgrade, unless anyone has advice on tracking down a salvaged replacement!

Well bummer ...  I was hoping it may be something obvious, that was one of the "benefits" of the old tech, you could sometimes see (or smell) where things released the magic smoke.

Is yours the Audit 860?

I know, I was hopeful.

Mine is an Audit 760.
