Title: Cleaning the refrigerator burner tube
Post by: George Stoltz on May 13, 2010, 07:20:31 pm
In reading a daily blog I follow I read that we should clean the refrigrator burner tube on our Dometic fridge.

Has anyone done this?  Where is it?

Okay.  You can use a bottle cleaner brush that you use for this purpose
only.  The tube is located behind the fridge and you get access to it from
the outside fridge door compartment.  I don't have "Forrest" here otherwise
I would post a picture.

You can make something like this and blow it out using your coach air.
Just insert the plastic tube up the burner a short way.
There is a baffle hanging in there so dont push to hard.

Actually, the annual tune-up on ALL absorption refrigerators is a LOT more than blowing out the burner.

It is well described in your refrigerator owners manual.  It requires no parts and no special tools are needed.

In addition to cleaning the burner tube, you will clean the propane jet, clean carbon off the thermocouple (some models), set igniter gap, etc. Also a good time to check and clean the 12 VDC electrical connections.
