Title: Shower Glass -- What do you do to keep it clean?
Post by: George Stoltz on June 27, 2010, 10:17:26 pm
We use a squeegee to clean the glass and Corian walls after EVERY shower.  We also wipe off all metal surfaces with a dry cloth.  I was wondering if using an application of Rain X from time to time would let us not have to be so fussy about removing water spray after every shower.

George,

Among the several things one can put on the shower surfaces, Wash Wax All is one.  It cleans and waxes all the surfaces, corian, glass and metal.

If you have water spotting, that may need to be polished off and then Wash Wax All plus the wipe down you mentioned will keep it clean and shiny.

If water spots are etched in, I do not know the solution for that.

See attached for protection of anodized aluminum extrusions in the shower.

Use a water softener in line with the filters.  They have RV units that work.  It keeps down the etching and makes the soap last longer!  See the previous posts on it.

Like Rudy, I have recently become a fan of Wash Wax All.

But I want to mention the "King" of the "slick-em" products that I have found: Rejex, by Corrosion Technologies of Dallas.  I use it as a wax/polish on every surface - for cars, Coach, paint/FBG/Glass, and apply it almost daily on the bugs on the front of the Coach on travel days.  In that application (front end bugs), the bug jerky will just wipe off with or without water!

Home Depot sells (or used to) a liquid spray hard water spot remover called "Eliminate" that works very well.  It also doesn't have the harsh fumes/odor of some similar products; I've used it in our shower and haven't needed to hold my breath when doing so (and I am very sensitive to chemicals).  It's also biodegradable.

I found ours in the bath fixture department.  Spray it on, let it sit just a little bit, wipe with a sponge to get good coverage, and rinse well.  I would recommend using when you're on hookups so you can flush well with fresh water and not have it sitting in your grey tank (just in case).
