Tire valve extensions and "thread chasers"

After having the outer threads on a valve extension damaged recently I turned to the Google to see if I could find something to re-cut the threads.  I came across something called a "thread chaser."  Has anyone here heard of them, own one or used one?

I am guessing that NAPA might carry them.

As always, your help is appreciated.

I have used thread chasers on just about every old piece of farm equipment out there. Typically they are similar to a thread "die" used to Make threads, but less aggressive to clean up the old threads vice cut
New threads.

Hi George,
Thread chasers are great. They clean up any lightly damaged threads, and remove any left over metal/dirt. Every machine shop uses them for all clean out work. They can only help.

Well.  How do I explain this?  I finally found picture of a thread chaser for tire valves and lo and behold I actually have a  thread chaser for Schraeder valves.  When I bought my Pressure Pro TPMS from Pat and Mike McFall, they included one FREE.

But wait, there is more.  I used it on the damaged tire valve extension and viola ... it is as good as new. Happy.  Happy.  Happy.

I have al old TIRE TOOL that is a valve core removal tool on one leg, a pointed reamer on the other, and a Thread Chaser on another, I have had this since I was a kid working in a gas station ( remember them ).  I thought that every toolbox had one. ::)

I've had one almost 2 years.  And I bet that some readers will go get one soon.  But, it wasn't until yesterday that I learned what the darn thing was for.

George, the tool is called a 4 in 1 tool, and listed on the link below.  Most any auto parts store should carry them.  The link shows a pix of it to make easy ID.
