Dynagen ES-52 Generator auto start control board

I am trying to install a newer control board in my IDL8000 generator. Has anyone changed theirs out for the newer one? Its a Dynagen ES-52. Is it strait swap on the wiring or is there anything different involved in wiring up the newer style PCB. I noted there were two additional connections labeled rsc1 and rsc2. I think they might be for the remote start switch on the dash but I am unsure. They are remote start contact 1,2 I believe. Also my old board had a capacitor between the the ground terminal and the 12v in terminal. If anyone has done this and can give me any advise I would appreciate it. Thanks

Mark,

I installed a replacement (new) Dynagen ES-52 in our 8kw unit a little over a year ago, and I recall that connections were pretty straightforward, with the exception that the replacement board I got was a general purpose board and had lots of setup options (described in the manual with it & also available on line) relating to things like wait period before crank (for glow plug heating, number of start retrys, etc.)  I don't think I had a capacitor on the +12v line.

I don't remember how I connected the RSC1 and RSC2 contacts, but I didn't have to run any additional wires to the panel.  If you run into trouble, I can open up the generator control box and look at the connections on the board, since I think our rigs are pretty similar.  Let me know if you need that info.  We live in the coach, so it's pretty handy :)), and we're currently in a park, so we're not running the gen now.  Also - if you don't have a copy of the installation and operating manual, let me know and I can email you one or probably find the on-line source.

Mark, Did the Dynagen Board fail ?
If you are replacing a good board I would be interested ion the old one as I am working on an older PT10 with the Isuzu engine.  Give me a call at 770-595-3891.

Thanks everyone for your advise. Bill Willett talked me through bypassing the step down transformer for the speed sensor. Thanks Bill. Called power tech down the road and Jeff told me how to bypass the latching relay. Bypassed it and it ran great. Turned out that I did not need the auto start board but I may keep it for a spare. The wiring is a strait swap over. Just had to set the dip switches up with the same options as the old PCB. Anyone know a good place to buy a latching relay for a IDL8000? I think it is a Finder Relay p/n: 22.21.9.012.4000. I found four vendors that show them online. I just need to call them to verify availability. I will leave it bypassed until I can get a new one. Thanks again....Regards , Mark
