Cummins ISM 450 going to 500 HP

Wonder if anyone else has made this conversion and how it worked out?
Just spent a lot of time going over the needed parts list to convert my ISM 450 @ 1450 ft lb to the 500 @ 1550 ft lb.
As it turns out for my CPL #, there are no changed parts, the only issue will be the possibility of a newer pressure sensor, just a change out of the original sensor and whammy!
Not sure if there is a notable difference, but maybe only more fuel burn with no real added performance.
When the Xtreme job is done, it will get the updates when I get back to Va.
More later as it unfolds.

I spoke to Cummins about a bump to 450 on my 400 hp M11 (uprated 370). They told me with the mileage I get to leave it the hell alone.

Several months ago I ran across a 1997 U320 for sale in Overland Park, KS with a 500 hp M11. It is the only one I have seen. As I recall when I talked with him he said he thought it had come from the factory with the 500 but he was the second owner. Is that possible? He also said he was getting around 8 mpg.

According to our VMSpc, over the lifetime of our engine it has averaged 7.5 MPG.  Getting 8mpg on a 500 horsepower engine seems unlikely for an extended amount of time.

Dave,
You're probably right about the fuel economy.  My take on this is every time I fill the tank, I consider it "air fare" as I hate to fly and refuse to be frisked, x-rayed to death, or otherwise be viewed as a potential terrorist any time I travel.

How many places can you fly 1st class for a couple thousand dollars?
