Mystery switch next to door on 1994 U240

On our 1994 U240, on the half-wall to the left of the door upon entry, there is a bank of three switches.  If I remember, they are for step, porch light and interior light.  Next to this is another single switch on a Foretravel plate, with two white wires.

Any ideas?

It may be something installed by previous owner like a switch to bring steps in when ignition is off.
I did that on mine.
Modify outside air step wiring to allow step to retract when ignition is off...

Might be.  Our FT came to us with no electric step, but with the bolts and wires hanging.  I figure it went bad, and the seller just removed it because the distance is not too bad anyway.  In any case, wife wanted a step for our aged dog, so I will find out later if it is a step switch.

Barry,

That extra switch is for those with air steps, correct, not the Kwikee electric double step?

The only reason I ask/mention is that it *is* possible to have the Kwikee stay in with the door open and ignition off, at least in our 2003.  On the Kwikee, the two switch positions equate to "activate with door operation" (where it extends and retracts with the door) and "remember last position" (where it stays in one position).  If you want the step to stay in when parked, with the ignition off have it in "activate" mode, close the door, and then flip the switch to the other position.  The step should stay in.  We use this when we have an uneven site or parked at home where we're dealing with a curb.

That is correct.
I had both configurations listed on the site but I knew he had an air step.

I guess I'm just a tad confused (gee, that never happens  ;) ).  Our Kwikee step is capable of having the steps stay in without us adding an extra switch.  Were there earlier models which didn't have this capability?

Am I understanding you to say you do NOT have a rocker switch to make this happen?
What is in "Activate" mode? A rocker switch or ignition?
I was not able to do this without adding a rocker switch.
You may have something I dont have since this one is the prototype test vehicle  ???

We have a single, factory-installed rocker switch for our electric step.  It's below the triple set of "porch light - door locks - interior light.  I'm guessing that's the same location as Matt's mystery switch.  Does yours not have this?

With ignition off, in one position, it will cycle in and out with the door opening and closing (this is what I called "activate" mode).  In the other position, it will stay in the last position the step was in when the switch was flipped after the ignition was off.

So if we need the step to stay in, after the ignition is off we'll put it in the "activate" mode - step going in and out with the door.  Close the door so the step goes in, flip the switch to the other position, and the step will stay in even if the door is opened.  The key is to go through this cycle after the ignition is off.

Much easier to demo it - you should come to Texas  :D  Hmmm... maybe in addition to the "Buddy Rally" the factory should hold a "ForeForum Rally"  ;D  (Steve and I will be waiting for their e-mail/PM  :) )

Ok, now I understand.  ;)
You have the rocker modification already installed by the factory that is listed on the web page.
Mine did not come with it. I had to install mine.
The factory said they would not install it for liability reasons.
I am surprised we have the same model & they did install it on yours.  :(

So your steps cycled every time you opened the door before you added that switch?  That had to get old!

The original owners did a lot of customization when they ordered the coach.  This must have been yet another non-standard they spec'd.

Very old. The big reason I put the rocker switch in was that when I was close to a curb I could not stop the steps from coming out and they got damaged once & I had to replace them.  :(
