Smart Wheel Increase Idle Speed

I once was able to use the Smart Wheel on my 02 U270/ISL 400 to increase idle speed when engine was running and transmission in neutral - but I can't make it happen now.

Could be malfunction.  Could be a senior moment.  I thought the procedure was to push Cruise Control once, then push Set once for a small increase in idle, or push Resume once for a higher increase.  Is this correct?  And - whatever the procedure - can I use it immediately upon start-up, or should I wait a bit?

That works on our 1997 U295. Be sure the oil pressure is up before increasing RPM.

If your cruise control works on the road, I would expect to work to raise the idle speed for building pressure, warming up, reducing vibration, etc. Be sure you are firmly selecting Cruise Control ON to start the sequence. Verify that you are not pressing the brake pedal and the brake lights are not stuck "ON" by a sticky switch or relay.

Should work:

parking brake on (foot off brake pedal)

Press cruise control"On" button, then press "Set" for about 840 RPM or "Resume" for about 1200 RPM

Turned off by pressing "off" or stepping on brake pedal

Have to go through off then on to change from 840 to 1200 RPM or vice versa

Not sure if position of retarder joy stick will affect ability to use this function, might be worth checking

Thanks for responses.  The tip that worked for me on this particular FT was to treat it like cruise control.  After pushing cruise, and before pushing either Set or Resume, I stepped on the accelerator slightly to increase rpms approximately 200 rpm above idle.  When I then pushed either Set or Resume, idle rpms moved to the appropriate level as programmed.
