grease points

What do I lube?  Manuals mention to lube the chassis, but do not give a diagram.  Anyone have a list or a diagram?  Our little Trek motorhome had thirteen fittings, a lot of them not conspicuous.

Also, manual mentions that the top pulley on the Cat should be lubed, but I do not see a fitting, just a dimple and a hole.

Chassis Lubrication U270 - U320

Since you have a U240, the points might be a bit different. I didn't find anything specific at beamalarm.com for the U240. You might want to start your search at Barry and Darlene Brideau's Personal Website. I expect some voices of experience will provide more information.

Beware of lubricating fittings for the brakes. Leave that to the experts.

OK, on the U240 from memory:

Front axle steering knuckles 2 each side
Tie rod ends
Drag link ends
Fitting above steering box (U joint)
Drive shaft (both U joints)
Engine upper idler pulley housing bearing-- look at top pulley between belt and head.  Ours is facing passenger's side of the engine.

Barry send me a link that has 240-specific information.  I will list the link below for others.

Chassis Lubrication

So the grease fitting for the pulley is behind the pulley?  I would have never thought to look there!

Matt,

Yes, though it is not on the chassis lube diagram (guess because it is not really on the "chassis") the zirk on the engine is between the pulley and head.  And this is where you would expect it to be, since the bearings are in that location.

Use a flashlight and mirror or stick your head in far enough on the passenger's side of the pulley and you will probably see it.  Ours is aimed at 90 degrees to the passenger's side.  I have also seen the zirk installed vertically.
