xantrex basic remote?

I installed a xantrex basic remote a couple of months ago, for the option  of power share , you can change the charging rate by changing the incoming power 5amps-15amps-20amps up to 50 amps so If I want to run a small Honda generator for late night TV I can.  The Question is when the large Generator is running (10 KW Power Tech) should I have the Power Share set at        50 amps ?    The charger/inverter is a Freedom 25  Heart Interface unit. Don't know much about the set up.

The standard Heart 25 display panel had DIP switches on the back side that also did power sharing settings, and that is how we changed power sharing. I only used one mounting screw to make it easier to remove panel. But your new display panel must make it easier to change settings from the front.

Power sharing tells the Freedom 25 battery charger the size of the shore power circuit breaker so it knows how many amps are available for battery charging, supplying power for 12-volt house loads, AND for supplying electricity to ONLY outlets in the coach that work on inverter. Outlets not on inverter are not monitored by power sharing.

If the batteries are not fully charged, or there are a lot of 12-volt loads, the battery charger could use so much AC current that when combined with electric outlet loads, the shore power circuit breaker could trip. When batteries are fully charged, power sharing offers little protection.

The Heart 25 power sharing circuit monitors AC outlet loads and if necessary reduces AC power available to the battery charger so it will not be the cause of tripping the circuit breaker. Power sharing will not prevent tripping circuit breaker if outlet loads exceed breaker rating.

Using power sharing settings of 5-amps for the Honda and 50-amps for the Power Tech may an easy rule to follow. You still have to manage outlet loads so you do not exceed Honda capability.

The battery charger does not draw much more than 10-15 amps 120-volts AC, but charger current could be reduced if power sharing setting is too low, so settings of 20 or above may yield same results.
