Tire Sentry System Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Is anyone familiar with the Tire Sentry System Tire Pressure Monitoring System?  If so, is it a good and reliable TPMS? 

It seems like several people here have the Pressure Pro Tire Pressure Monitoring System.  Does anyone know how the Tire Sentry system compares with the Pressure Pro system?

What are your thoughts/recommendations concerning the Tire Sentry System?

Morris,
Tire Sentry only drops an alarm if the tire pressure drops below a set point. The set point can be changed by user to fit your needs.

The sensors have user changeable batteries.

They do not show a minute by minute pressure reading as you run down the road. You still have to get out the old pressure gage and manually check the tire pressure.  If you want a constant pressure reading that you can see go with someone else. You will have to check the tire temp. manually as they don't transmit temp.

The sensors screw down on the valve stem as does Pressure Pro.

If all you want is an alarm to drop in case you run over something while traveling and have a tire going down they work just fine.

This is what we have used for several years and they have saved us on our toad twice where we picked up a nail. In all the years of use we have had 1 sensor to go bad just last year. Sent it back and in 10 days it was fixed and back at No Charge. Would we buy again? Yes we like the way they work.

Thank you very much!!  I was told the Tire Sentry System sends an alarm if the tire pressure exceeds an upper set point as well as if the tire pressure drops below a low set point.  Is this true?

Other than having the information of the instantaneous tire pressure and temperature, is there any benefit of having a TPMS that transmits the instantaneous tire pressure and temperature at all times?

Have you found your Tire Sentry System to be accurate vs. pressure readings on a pressure guage? 

Have you had any issues with the additional weight of the Tire Sentry System sensors causing any damage or leakage on the valve stems, specially the long valve stems on the duals?

Our system only drops if it is low pressure. ( went over to there site and looked for a high alarm and didn't find one)http://www.tiresentry.com/

The benefit would seem to be personal preference (how much info do you want/need) or do you want the info on your Silver Leaf which could help you out.

When we have checked the set point against a gauge they were real close.

We have had no problems with the weight of the transmitters on the long valve stems. The bigest problem is reaching the end of the valve stem for the outside dual but this is the same if you have just a valve cover.

Thank you very much!!  I presumed having the instantaneous temperature and pressure might be a personal preference and specially since we do not have the Silver Leaf system. (I do not think our 1997 U270 engine and transmission have the required electronics to feed the Silver Leaf system.)

By not having an upper pressure alarm, has this been any concern/issue to you?

We check the tires each stop for temp.( a hand held non contact laser thermometer works well for this) along with and other sign of trouble.

 We have not had any big concerns of not having a high pressure alarm. If we were to be traveling in high temp. weather  or running near 100% load we could see where this would be a nice feature. Give them a call at T/S Monday and talk to them about it.

Pressure Pro reports digital tire pressure for each tire, one at any time, ignition on or off, driving or parked.
This makes it easy to always know each tire's psi from inside the motorhome. We have not used our pressure gauge in years, but always know our tire pressures.

Pressure Pro alarms if tire pressure drops below a set point.
This set point is established when tire sensor is screwed on after being off tire for about 40 seconds.

Pressure Pro also alarms when a tire pressure increases over another set point.
This set point is established when tire sensor is initially installed and can be adjusted on display panel.

Display shows specific tire(s) with alarm.

Tire pressure sensors that screw on the end of a tire valve stem cannot fully sense tire temperature, even though some brands claim to report temperature.

We have been using our Pressure Pro sensors for over 5 years without any problems.
We changed our outer dual rear tire valve stems to point outward to make it simple to screw on a sensor.

Thank you very much for this information.  Can you replace the batteries in the sensors yourself or do you have to send them into the company and get a replacement?  Based on what I have seen on the Pressure Pro web site, it looks like the sensors have to ben returned to the company for battery replacement at a current cost of $35.00 per sensor.

We have been using the Doran RV 360 system for three years which is very similar to the Pressure Pro. I like the LCD display better than the PP display. Having said that I don't think much of Doran's customer service. Moreover I have had three sensors fail either due to battery or other issues.

When it works we are very happy with it.

Two people that I know of have switched to this system. TireTraker TPMS One has been in use for over a year and they are very happy with the system. It measures temp as well but I don't know how accurate it is as no one has discussed that. It does have user replaceable batteries which is a plus in my opinion. Also I have dealt with this company before and the service is excellent.

Pressure Pro wheel sensors are sealed and battery cannot be changed or recharged. Ours are still working after 5 years. Factory will send you new ones for $35 each in exchange for your old sensors. Most Pressure Pro sensors are still going strong and not many have found their sensors go dead. But I assume at between year 5 and 6+ sensors will have to be replaced.
