TV Upgrade in Progress

I removed the 13" in the overhead and also the plywood box with the vinyl covering.  I'm trying to do this on the cheap so I stripped the vinyl, cut it down (hit my head so many times on that thing), sanded and stained.  Thanks to PatC for the advice on the Minwax Polyshades Antique Walnut...very close match to the existing woodwork.  I have it reinstalled and shored up a bit so as to support the drop down tv and mount.  It is ready so now I have to look for a TV.  I think a 24" LCD panel will work.  I am going to put a DVD player in the cabinet.  I also ran white PEX as conduit from above the microwave to the dash overhead and ran 12 guage wire through it so now I have 110 above the TV.  Busy day.  Here are a few photos of the TV mount.  It isn't fancy and I'm certainly no craftsman but it looks OK.

Dwayne:  Looks great , it's takes a lot of time and thought do up date things like that.  I up dated both of my TV's front & rear just a couple of months ago. I went with Vizio 22" LED from Costco they are very thin and light. There are $199.00 at Costco, nice thing about Costco they give you another year of warranty so you get 2 years , they have a good viewing angle, my last rig I put a LG LCD set in and the angle had to be right or it was dark, That was 5 or 6 years ago and I think all the newer sets are better. I took out the old 19" CRT set up front and put in the new one and put in a simple shelf over the top of TV and put in a Blue Ray player. In the rear that took some more thought, It had an old 12" CRT set in, so I put the new 22" LED in , not to difficult, but there was no place to put a DVD player, so this took some more thought. I moved all the light switches around the corner, and cut a hole and put a shelf and built a trim piece to go around the DVD player. I like the switches better here now , easier to see.  Art

Looks great.  I've already purchased a Samsung 4000 series 22" LCD from Best Buy...they were on sale but out of them at every Best Buy around so I am waiting for it to come in.  Based on my mounting situation, I hamstrung myself into one that needs minimal space behind the unit for power cord and HDMI connection as I intend to mount it directly to the swing down mount with 1/2" spacers rather than adding the thickness of a mounting plate.  This one was the only one that fit the bill but thankfully I really liked the dispaly model.

Dwayne:    I think most all the new LCD or LED TV's are all just fine.  At the same time, I had taken out the surround sound system that was in our last coach before we sold it and put it in the Foretravel. A Yamaha tuner 4 Klipsch speakers & a 12"    250 watt subwolfer , The wife doesn't care for it much, it's a guy thing.  I sure like the HDMI cables, makes the job much easier, this is the first setup I was able to use them.    Art
